I really love this book. It does have M/M sexual scenes and it does have violence but the love between the 2 men who need love so bad outweighs all the bad!! I especially love the mentally challenged brother! This is a really great book and I had a really hard time putting it down when my break was over!! I just started book # 2 and so far both books were worth the cost! The author writes really well and I never had to go back to see what she was trying to say. A few sentences missed some words like 'of' or 'and', but unless you're an English professor, the author writes really well and she's funny at times. I totally relate to all that she says. You definitely have to read book 1 before you read book 2 though. Book 2 continues where book 1 left off. It's sort of a HEA but at the same time it's a "I want more to see what happens in the future"!! I love this series and recommend it to all who love M/M books!!!Product details

The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because of editing errors.. It's not bad enough to keep you from buying the book like some are, but I always find editing errors annoying. They interfere with the flow of the story, because they stick out like a sore thumb. They make you stop and reread. The author herself should have spotted most of the errors.
I read an excerpt attached to Annabel Joseph's Master's Flame or I probably wouldn't have ever found the book. Never heard of the author. This brief passage was so moving that I immediately bought all three books in the trilogy - no need to wait to see if I liked the first.- no need to read reviews. I'd never read anything that touched me as this passage did.
I knew upfront the book involved m/m only which I'd never read and then an unknown degree of paranormal which has never appealed to me after sampling a few of those novels.. The m/m relationship was so intense and evocative. I don't have any experience with reading m/m only romance. I knew nothing about the author until after reading this book. My initial feeling was that only a woman could write such a sensitive and moving love story; although I'd assumed, wrongly, being m/m, that it was written by a male.
As far as the paranormal.............
I am a big fan of horror fantasy. Stephen King, Dean Koontz and too many others to name. After reading a few "paranormal romances", that genre just didn't appeal to me. There are more touches of the "horror fantasy" than "paranormal romance" in this book. I hope the rest of the trilogy stays that way.
I face the second book with trepidation. I don't like excessive violence. This book came close but didn't cross the line. I don't like " paranormal romance" and hope the second book sticks with traditional horror as the first did.
I'm grateful that Annabel Joseph let me know about this book. I've been reading erotic romance since SOG; although, I'm a voracious reader who reads anything and everything. The characters in this book touched me deeply. This not erotic romance, but a love story you'll never forget because of the way the author has so deeply developed the characters.
It's not very often I can sit down after reading a book and say that I loved it so much from the moment it started that it was a 5* read off the jump, but I can definitely say that here. I knew at 5% what I would end up rating this book just based on what the author had put forth at this point and it only raised higher still with everything that came after.
This is not an easy story to read, even though it flows so effortlessly it does feel easy in that way. There are real issues tackled in this story that not a lot of others like it take on and they're written about in a way that shows a lot of care by the author. The characters because of these issues jump off the page and become real the more pages you turn until suddenly, the story is over and you're wondering how it happened.
Rudy endeared himself to me immediately and even now stepping away from it, he's still here. I'm not sure if it's because I have three developmentally challenged children of my own that did it, but the way Rudy is with me now, I want him to stay that way forever. Such a wonderfully refreshing character and the one bright spot in this very sad story.
My heart ached for Jon and Ellis both. They were both facing their own roads and issues and at times I wanted to stop reading just so I could hug the hell out of them. They deserved it, they earned it. They are two tragically beautiful characters and I'm so glad this book was recommended to me so that I could meet them. They've touched me in ways not a lot of characters have in the past.
The romance in this story was perfect. It was pretty close to magical in the way it transpired, especially due to Ellis's innocence of the world and Jon's knowledge of it. It was believable, paced so well that it seemed natural and the love scenes, while hot in some aspects, touched my heart as much as the characters themselves did. There was love in these pages, even before the characters wanted to admit to it and it was beautiful.
There was mention of a paranormal aspect to this, but I didn't get that feeling at all from what I read here. What Rudy is able to do, honestly with how truly amazing people who have special needs are, it seemed like a natural thing to me for him to be able to just "know" things the way he did. It added even more awesomeness to his character quite frankly.
I cannot say enough good things about this book. It's a definite must read by everyone, whether you're a fan of m/m romance or not. The story alone speaks to it.
I want to give this more stars, but for now 5 is going to have to do!
